BUILDER and developer
Vaughan Constructions will speculatively build a 15,000 sq m warehouse
facility at its Wyndham Industrial Estate in Melbourne's west.
The building would be designed to house
companies that urgently needed space, and would have the flexibility
to accommodate tenants looking for 3000 sq m to 15,000 sq m,
Vaughan Constructions marketing manager Mark Byrne said.
The news
comes in the wake of several leasing and sales deals at the estate, which Vaughan
owns in a joint venture with ING, worth about $17 million.
A 5000
sq m printing facility for Lithocraft was completed two weeks ago, while in
April US materials handling company Hyster leased 4700 sq m in
another building.
Victorian
Rural Transport is building a 2200 sq m warehouse on land it bought from the
joint venture, and AbiGroup bought a 1.1-hectare parcel at the estate at the
start of the year.
Mr Byrne said he was confident the speculative
building would appeal to the market, given its flexibility to
accommodate a variety of tenants. He said there had been strong
inquiry from companies needing about 5000 sq m since the start
of the year.
